    What does this have to do with aliya?

    Also, there is a teshuva by the rabbis in Provence that, until the majority of the Jews live in the land, since shmita is derabannan it is only a middat chassidut (a pious act, but not halakhically mandated).

    Are you seriously asking what Shmittah has to do with living in Israel?

    Also, I hardly see your point. There is also a teshuva by Rabbis from Hungary that say until the messiah comes Aliyah is forbidden.

    Futhermore even if it was "only" a pious act - what exactly do you have against pious acts?
